Eric - my P-19 has two pad eyes in the cockpit, one under the hatch, the
other under the winch handle. Both are approximately 8 inches above the
cockpit sole. I would use a 6 ft. teather. Rigging a jib downhaul is
probably best so you can stay in the cockpit in conditions where you need
to be anchored to the boat.
If you HAD to go forward you could rig a teather to the base of the mast
about 4' long, or clip into the pad eyes for the baby stays.

Haven't heard from anyone about the trans-bay sail I proposed for Feb. 26.
