I had to repair one of my skegs a while back. I actually punched a hole
in it (it was WAY too thin), the problem with my boat is it has wood bonded
into the bottom. Water got trapped between the skeg and the wood. I drilled a
hole up through the skeg and through the plywood. ThenI made the hole in the
plywood larger and waited for it to dry out. I taped up the hole in the skeg
and stuffed lots of glass fibers down through the hole in the wood and poured
lots of resin through the hole. I told I.M. about this problem and the last
time I was at the factory I checked out a P.15 being built and they had this
area beefed up with several layers of thick mat and resin. These folks really
listen to us.
