Funny you should mention that. I just received a remarkable e-mail from Bob
Morrison in the UK. Bob owned one of the Stanley Smith built Type A wooden
Potters. Among other things, Bob mentioned, " My 'A'type had no hull or
sail number that I could find, but the only clue to her age was a 1961
penny which was nailed to the mast inside the cabin."

The A-type, incidentally, had a detachable cabin.

Bob never knew Stanley Smith, but once had a chance meeting with Stanley's
brother, Colin and had a long conversation with him. On another occasion he
met Stanley's sister-in-law. With Bob's permission, I will put the letter
on our web page along with a couple of early Potter ads and a great photo
of his Type A that he sent me. He also owned a fiberglass Type B, which he
liked better. He sailed the waters around the Isle of Wight.
