There's a replacement for incadescent bulbs that look really suitable for
Potter usage. They are lamps made of stacked LEDs (light emitting diodes).
The come in the colors red, amber, yellow, green, blue and white. The light
colors look good for cabin and navigation lights.
Here's the claims of the manufacturer:

Average life of 100,000 hours - 10 x incadescent life

3 year warranty

Reduce power consumption by 80-90%

Shock resistant

Available in 9mm, 12mm bayonet and candelabra bases (pleases both John Wayne
and Liberace)

Direct replacement for incadescent bulbs (pleases Uncle Fester)

Available for 6-240 volts AC/DC (pleases both Tesla and Edison)

Available from LEDTRONICS 1-800-579-4875 23105 Kashiwa Ct Torrance, CA
90505.
With some manufacturers, if you ask nicely, they will supply a limited
quantity of free samples. These may also be good for the boat trailer and
car. They don't get hot enough to explode when immersed.
