Come join in the fun and sailing comraderie. This should be a great weekend,
so let's have a good turnout!! This is the most southernly located event of
the year, and the members from southern California should be there in large
numbers. It'll be a time for northern and southern friends to visit and
renew friendships.

The winds are atypically light in the mornings, so even the newer skippers
can get out on the water to practice their skills. More experienced
skippers can test their mettle when the afternoon thermally-induced winds
start to blow.

Located in the foothills of the Sierra National Forest, this beautiful 5,000
acre lake is known for good wind, good angling and beautiful scenery. There
are sandy swimming areas and picnic sites around the Lake. We will be
staying overnight at Winchell Cove Marina, but you may chose the option of
sailing upriver to a secluded anchorages (extra boat-camping fee of $11
applies). Launch/use fee is $11, marina fee is about $7.

We will be launching at 9 am, so arrive early. Bring food for BBQ Saturday
night and other meals. Shopping and restaurants nearby via car. Call (209)
822-2332 for more information on the services in the State Recreation Area.
RSVP to LeRoy Falk 559-897-0423 for marina reservations.

Check the Potter Yachter website for updates at
http://www.potter-yachters.org. The full sailing calendar for Year 2000 is
available on the website.

Directions:To get to Millerton Lake: Take Highway 99 towards Madera. Exit at
Madera onto Highway 145 heading east. Go 19.5 miles (crossing Hiway 41 after
16 miles) on 145, which turns into Millerton Road. Millerton Road deadends
at Friant Rd at a stop sign. Take a right onto Friant Rd, following the sign
to the Fresno side of the Lake, and you will come to the gate and guard
booth at the entrance to the Lake. Pay your fees at the Gate. (make sure
your boat is properly registered and has current sticker displayed). Just
inside the gate, you will see a sign directing you to the ramp that is being
used for launching (different ramps are open depending on the water levels).
