Confirming member Nolan's email - AP just came out with headline below:
"After being passed by a supercharged V8 powered Potter 19 during a high
speed ultral large and expensive, multi engined powerboat race. Mr. Greenspan
declared plans to specifically increase interest rate on Potter 19's to
reduce consumption which drives inflation. In his opinion P19 owner's buy too
much junk to add to their vessels. Adding a v8 engine encourages conspicouous
consumption. This in turns feeds inflation even more. Mr Greenspan also
indicated that he is encouraging congress to strip the second nome interest
deduction from all Potters equipped with any motor larger than a Tanaka."
"In addition, Congress is considering passing a law forbidding the
installation of a jet engine on a P19. Their reason for this action is that
it is impossible to place the afterburner throught that 1/2" drain hole
currently disguised as a full incher."

<< Dear Web Gang:
In the past I have noticed that the P-19 owners deliberate and then go out
and spend money (i.e. Captain Judy and her apostles as an example).
The P-15 owners deliberate and argue endlessly, but to get them to spend any
money is another thing altogether. There have been a few of us that spent
money, but it is never very much and always after months and months of
deliberation. Those P-15 owners that rush out to West Marine usually and
eventually become P-19 owners.
From the recent deliberations it appears that the P-19 owners are adopting
the mythic, superstitions and argumentivness previously reserved primarily
to
us P-15 owners.
The purpose of this note is to bring attention to the marked change in
attitude of the various divisions of our Web Gang.

<< I think the purchasing habits of the P-15's are determined more by the
size
of the boat. The P-15 is no larger than a shopping cart, so one well planned
trip to West Marine would suffice. The deliberation involved is to determine
what gets ejected overboard to make room for the new item.
However the P-19 is a veritable shopping spree. It's volume is equal to at
least 25 shopping carts which for some, is a year's worth of biweekly trips
to West Marine. By the time it is full some of the early purchases have
weathered, worn out, become obselete or are just no longer novel and
interesting. So the cycle is repeated until spousal intervention.
In his recent address of March 21, Alan Greenspan has recognized that P-19
owners are the economic engine driving the economy. In order to slow the
economy a bit to avoid a transient inflation, Mr. Greenspan has suggested
that I.M. reduce the number of P-19s they build to reduce the strains on the
rapidly growing economy.
