Ken,

Here's how to get a good idea where to put the track:

I'm assuming you have roller furling....

Raise the mast, point the bow into the wind. Unfurl the genoa. Now pull the
jibsheet back tight to the deck, at an angle so that an imaginary line
running thru the sheet would be perpendicular to the headstay. Mark the
deck of the boat where you pulled the sheet to. Now mark a spot 2-4 inches
behind that. That'll be the back of the track.

Do the same thing with the small jib completely unfurled. Mark that spot.
Next do it with the jib rolled up to half it's length and mark that spot.
Add 2-3 inches in front of the spot you marked and mark that spot. That's
the front of your track.

With a track that long, you should be able to get a good shape on your
headsail no matter how much wind you have and how much you roll it up.

Now go out sailing with a friend and get him/her to hold the jib sheet right
at various places very near the places you marked. Try a little outboard
and a little inboard of the the places you marked. You should be able to get
good sail shape with your friend holding the sheet there. Check to make sure
you're not going to have obstructions like shrouds in the way, or other
pieces of the boat to catch the sheets on.

If it all checks out okay, install the length of track indicated however
inboard or outboard you thought worked best.

Also read my article about how to locate fixed blocks or track on the P19 at
http://hometown.aol.com/jblumhorst/jibtracks.html

The article is about the P19, but the same concepts will also work for the
P15

Hey Ken,

where exactly are your genoa tracks mounted? I still haven't mounted mine,
trying to figure out where they should go, how far back etc... Eric
Johnson and I are supposed to go out one night and he was gonna help me
figure it out but it hasn't happened yet so...maybe you can measure yours
and let me know....
