In 1996 I had the good fortune to lead a dive expedition to Miyako Island,
south of Okinawa. We were searching for the wreck of HMS Providence which
sank on a reef north of this island 200 years ago...but that's another
story! While on one of the support boats I came across a Japanese yachting
magazine called Ocean Life. It was the January 1995 issue which I still
have. On page 235 in the "Sailing Column" is a feature article on the "Santa
Monica 15" known to us all as the WWP 15. The boat shown in the photo spread
has the number 2052 on its main sail, West Wight Potter written on the hull
and carries a Yamaha 5hp outboard. The boat sports all the usual accesories.
The Japanese couple on board are shown enjoying sailing and fishing. The
article also includes specifications and an equipment price list. Do you
really want to know what things cost in Japan???
