Eric, I should have been more specific. I dont relieve myself anywhere near
shore. Believe me, the human waste generated by me was LONG gone by the
time you or anyone else came anywhere near shore. I cannot get arrested,
and it is perfectly legal to hang over the side and relieve yourself as long
as you are 3 miles out or further( I believe it's 3 miles). Mariners dump
their toilet holding tanks into the sea on the way to Catalina, and most
sailors that I know use their common sense and wait until they are about
half way over.
If you experienced "floaters" near shore, then someone is not
only breaking the law, but is very inconsiderate and unsanitary. So, the
next time you really have to go, and you are beyond 3 miles offshore, get
