Sadly I am selling my 2001 Potter 19 "Cat's Meow". I picked her up at the factory in December of 2000. At 87 my balance is not what it used to be, and I am not fond of getting up on the boat in a parking lot to set her up or take her down. She is an easy and forgiving, boat to sail. Over the years she has kept me safe.
"Cat's Meow" is set up for coastal cruising. I have solo sailed her from Ft Bragg to San Diego.
Besides the standard equipment including a Baja trailer here is what I added for cruising.
JB Code Zero sail
Kelley Hanson Main with two reef points
Hyde Lapper
Sailrite Genny is well worn but still works
Heavy-duty storm sails
Ray Marine ST1000 autopilot was recently refurbished at the factory
6 hp Tohatsu Sail Drive long shaft (25"). 2013 purchased new in 2014.
Two AGM batteries. The one in the bow doesn't work I left it there for ballast. I have never run out of electricity with one battery.
50-watt solar panel with regulator.
Smart battery charger for dock-side charging.
Standard Horizons VHF with AIS receiver, mast-mounted antenna
Remote mike with AIS in cockpit
Garmin chart GPS on a swivel mount visible from either the cockpit or cabin
Off-shore PFD with built-in harness
Harness mounts on bow and cockpit.
Tether 6'/ 3'
Jack line
Voyager rudder by Rudder Craft
Anchor and 250 feet of rode with 10 feet of chain
Fenders and dock lines

I am the third owner, having captained this boat and trailer since 1978; 18' (excluding pulpit) Hull Number 5. It has been parked in a storage yard for years, and I'm getting too old and tired to fix it up and sail her anymore. There is no motor, though it at one point had a long-shaft Yamaha 7hp that moved her rather briskly. The sails were old and blown out of shape when I bought her with a roller reefing jib and a mainsail. The last time I looked, the tires were flat and cracked. Not much of a sales pitch I admit, but I don't want to be misleading.
The system would not let me input "1970s ?" So the date of manufacture of 1973 is only approximate.
PRICE REDUCED TO SELL! Please help me get out from under these storage fees. DONE AND GONE. Thank you, all who replied to the ad.

I am the original owner of this boat. The boat has been kept inside during the time I've owned it. The boat is in superb condition overall. Down below the cushions are like new. There are custom clothes bags that line the hull for storage with other bags for navigation tools and a rack for books.
On deck there is teak trim where needed. Teak back rests are attached to the rails for comfort. Aft in the cockpit is a portable galley for cruising. A cockpit awning is also included. The boat has been re-rigged for speed and ease of i
use. There are many other items too numerous to mention here. More information and pictures can be found in my book, 'The Gentle Art of
Pottering' offered on Amazon Books.

UPDATE: Everything is now sold or with the boat in its new home. Thanks to those who responded. Hope to have another soon!
My 1998 P19 was an unfortunate casualty of the recent CA storms (deck/hull damage) and insurance has deemed it a total loss. Hard to imagine all these good parts going to waste, so I am selling the items worth pulling off. It is currently near Morro Bay, CA. Below are a few items that I would let go without the boat. It you want the whole thing - hull, trainer, mast, boom, sails, roller furling, fittings, etc, etc - let me know. I still have a little time before they come to take it away.

2001 West Wight Potter 19 Sailboat
The West Wight Potter is a unique pocket cruiser made to very high quality standards. The boat floats in just 6 inches of water with the keel retracted, making it easy to launch, retrieve or lay-up on a beach. The Potter 19 weighs 1,225 lbs, including the 300 lb keel. The galvanized trailer weighs 350 lbs. The combined weight makes for an easily towable package. I believe the boat has the Blue Water Lay-up package. The boat has been stored indoors for the past 6 ? years, and regrettably has been in the water just once. I believe the boat is operationally sound, needing some paint on the hull above the water line and some tung oil on the exterior woodwork.

I am the third owner and have thoroughly enjoyed her since March of 2013. We have primarily sailed her in Lake Norman near Charlotte, NC but have also sailed her a few times in the intercostal waterway off of North Carolina. She has been cover/tarp kept when not in use and is in very good condition. I can provide near real-time (up to date) photos and face-time video if interested. We have made many wonderful memories with her but are taking the next step in our sailing adventures and preparing to purchase a larger sailboat to cruise with the family for extended periods of time. We're asking $10,500 without the outboard. The following is a quick summary of her features:
Color: Blue with White Non-Skid Deck
Blue Water Layup Option (thicker hull)
12v Interior lighting and 12v outlet
Nav lights (Bow and Stern) including mast head lights
CDI Furler for headsail/jib
North Sails (Jib and Main) in Good Condition
Stainless Steel Side Rails, Bow Pulpit
Fold-Up Stainless Steel Swim Ladder
Bimini with Bimini cover
Epoxied and Foul Painted Bottom
Main Sail Cover

New Sheets/lines (I have not put these on yet, they are new and were purchased from the Potter store)
New Amsteel cable for centerboard raising/lowering
Cockpit Ladder
All interior cabin cushions in excellent condition including centerboard filler board and cushions
Unused Portapotty
Alchohol Stove
Baja Trailer with LED lights in great condition
The teak could use new varnish/cetol
Life vests, mast raising system, spare parts/pieces, fenders are all included as well.
Motor: I gave the Tohatsu 5hp away after she gave me some trouble and purchased an electric outboard. The outboard I purchased is an ePropulsion Navy 3.0 with the tiller handle. I built my own 80AH battery to go with it. If you are interested in purchasing this motor for $2000 without the battery let me know but I understand that electric motors aren't everyone's cup of tea so I plan on using that on a future dinghy or selling separately otherwise.

1978 West Wight Potter 15 (14MkII)
Hull #754
I've had this boat since 2004. Towed home from Michigan, sailed her in KY, TN, a couple times in FL, and once in OH. Spent nights on board when it was hot and when it was cold.
Before I owned her, she used to sail lake Michigan. Apparently raced, evidenced by the extra control points for the jib and genoa.
This is of course an older boat but I've put a lot of work over the years into making her more comfortable, seaworthy and beautiful.
When I was single she was a perfect boat. When I met my wife, we sailed together, still the perfect boat. Now we have 4 children, and while we still CAN all sail on "Courageous", its not exactly easy. We already have a larger boat, so I've decided to pass her on to someone with a smaller crew.

Upgrades/improvements
- Sunbrella covered cabin and cockpit cushions with dense "seating" foam for a comfy tush and a good night's sleep.
- Bimini with cover that folds out of the way or completely covers the cockpit
- Sunbrella pockets that can be snapped on inside or outside to hold your sunglasses, drink, phone, etc.
- Keel can be raised, lowered, locked up or locked down from the cockpit with the cabin door closed.
- speaking of the door, its not wood, its plexiglass, and can be used as a little cockpit table with included leg. I also have a canvas cabin door cover so you can have privacy but still get some air.
- and speaking of air, there is an extra round access hatch at the bow for ventilation and for reaching in to get to gear.
- 2 access ports in the cockpit let you reach things under the seats.
- extra lines and sails stored in laundry baskets that fit neatly under cockpit seats. pull them out from inside the cabin.
- aluminum danforth anchor and heavier mushroom anchor, with chain and 120' nylon braid line included. Also included is a floor mat to soften the landing when you stow the anchor.
- Entire hull and deck cleaned and protected with poli-glow several years ago. Though it should be time to reapply, the poli-glow is lasting a long time due to indoor or covered storage of the boat the last few years.
- new tires in 2021. bearings checked often and kept greased before that.
- Trailer scraped and painted in 2008.
- Outboard motor mount on the trailer bow winch post so you don't have to carry it in your car (motor NOT included in sale)
- Spare tire
- LED trailer lights
- "goal posts" for landing the boat back on the trailer
- Vinyl lettering with boat name on bow, painted name on stern.
- single boarding step on transom.
- spinnaker rigging and topping lift added.
- Sails include Main (with lugs), jib, genoa, spinnaker, and storm tri-sail that can be used as a spinnaker or main (never had to use it!)
- dual scupper cockpit drains, plus the little drain at the bottom of the cockpit.
- anchor line/mainsheet sunbrella back at aft end of cockpit.
- Wooden organizers inside the cabin.
- Quick "jiffy" reefing - one reef point.
- Teak mast cradles on the bow and cabin that let you lay down the mast and still access the cabin. Very handy when you want to use the boat with the mast down or take it down early on the water.
- 7' wooden oars and nylon oarlocks mounted into teak blocks. one extra socket on the stern for sculling. Often you will only need this one.
- propane camp stove with added pins to keep the pot from falling off. If you want this, ask me. I'll only include it if you want it and tell me so. same goes for the tiny cast-iron pan that fits it.
- Bilge pump
- fenders
-120' of new 1/4" braided nylon for anchor or dock line in a sunbrella bag in the cockpit.
- If you end up buying, remind me to go look through my bin of boat stuff and see if there is anything else. She came with a few things that I don't use, like the partial boom tent.

We bought the boat new from International Marine in 1995. It has been garage kept. We are selling her as we have a larger boat and she needs to be in the water not my garage.
The boat has three sails, the main and jib are original but in very good shape. We bought a larger jib from North Sails in 2012 also in great shape. There is also a cover for the main sail.
The boat comes with a trailer that we purchased with the boat. The trailer was serviced last season & we recovered the trailer bunks.
The boat comes with a 1994 Nissan 2.5 two stroke outboard that we bought the year we bought the boat. There is also a cover for the outboard.
I removed the Centerboard in 2019 and stripped it of its original paint and had it hot dip galvanized as we used it in salt water often.
I replaced the starboard port light in 2019 also as it was crazed.
I added a lighting package that I bought from international Marine a number of years ago.

Selling my 1999 WWP 19. I'm the second owner and the boat has been well maintained with recent upgrades.
Boat is in a slip in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach CA. Bottom paint was last done in 2018. Boat gets monthly cleaning topside and bottom via a diver service. Teak/rudder rudder stock refinished about a year ago. Keel, kickup wood rudder, and engine kept out of the water while the boat is not is use. Sail cover on the mainsail for protection. Installed bilge pump when put in a slip but to be honest I've never found much water at all in the boat so I dont think it has really ever run. I test it periodically. Overall boat is in great shape. Some chips in the interior (near sink) in the gelcoat but those are not part of the hull. Only to do on my list would be to replace the engine bracket because its difficult to pull up the engine and its almost time for a new jib. Many upgrades, see below:
- 2019 Tohatsu 6 HP MFS6CSPROUL SAIL PRO Outboard Motor (bought new; less than 20hrs on it total likely)
- ST1000+ auto-tiller pilot installed 2020
- Garmin Echomap 54cv with GPS/Sonar Depth finder installed 2018 (video of it here https://www.facebook.com/groups/758204287642371/permalink/1693633877432736 )
-CDI jib furler installed ~2016
-2018 Bottom paint professionally applied (Marina Shipyard). Painted keel as well
- Bluetooth radio with Plantronics nonmagnetic speakers installed in the cockpit (prevents interference with the tillerpilot compass)
- 2016 1100 GPH Rule Bilge pump with float switch and control panel (for manual and auto actuation) installed. Boat has never seen water in it so probably never used :)
- Original interior pieces: water bag (never used), porta potty (never used), propane stove (never used), and cooler.
-Trailer with spare tire attached
-Cars sewn into mainsail to replace rope bolt. Allows keeping mainsail on the boom for storage.
- Running rigging replaced ~2 years ago
- Head stay and back stay replaced within 5 years

International Marine re-tooled their molds just a year or so before this hull was produced, so the non-skid has clean lines. I bought her from the original owner in 2012, and he said he’d only sailed her a few times. I’ve picked up some cosmetic gelcoat issues here and there, so she’s showing age, but she’s a sound boat and I’ve generally tried to keep her in good shape.
This is a turn-key setup, ready to go sailing.

It's hard to write this, but it's time to pass on "Otter" (West Wight Potter #555) to a new owner.
I've owned her since 1996. As you can tell from the hull number, she's from the prime of the International Marine era, when they did not skimp on fiberglass or cut any corners when it came to construction. She's been kept in my garage, and upgraded with new OEM factory side windows, interior cushions, and a lovely solid brass openable forward port. Brand new tanbark genoa, never used. Honda two-horsepower, four-stroke outboard kept fully serviced, and trailer kept roadworthy.
Hull is a beautiful glossy black, painted with aircraft quality paint. Lovely hand-carved wooden stern design, commissioned from one of the last of the old-time pros here in Sausalito.
Last sailed in 2019. Some tinkering is in order: I pulled the centerboard for re-rigging, and the top deck could use repainting. These were projects I was looking forward to, until I had a revelation: my free time is at a minimum, my kids have grown, and they would really rather use the garage for cars of their own.
It's time to pass on "Otter", to someone who'll enjoy and appreciate it as much as I have.
I haven't set a price, because finding the right person is more important than getting top dollar. I'm in Marin County, the north bay of the San Francisco Bay area. If you're interested, let me know.

1987 West Wight Potter 19 - $5,000 OBO
This is a wonderful example of an older boat ready for its next adventure. This boat is structurally sound and has new running rigging and oversized standing rigging. The red and white sails are still in awesome shape! It has a main and a 110% lapper head sail.
The galvanized trailer with its outboard motor carrier is ready to haul this boat to any location that interests you.
The interior cushion covers are clean and are ready for a cozy summer nights sleep over on your favorite lake or protected harbor.
The boat comes with a 2003 4 HP 4 stroke long shaft Tohatsu motor. The motor is in need of a new fuel pump as the pump diaphragm has hardened. The carburetor was always drained before storage and it has always had oil changes. The motor has approximately 100 hours on it.
Please email me if you would like some photos.

1.) chewed an edge on one of the teak companionway cover tracks on top of the cabin
2.) chewed a little of the insulation off the wire pigtail for the steaming light near the base of the mast on top of the cabin
The teak companionway tracks and handles, and the companionway door are weathered and could use some freshening-up.
The drain hose from the sink to the hole in the port-side of the hull needs to be replaced (~2' long. I just haven't gotten to it yet)
The water pump on the outboard works fine, but it has sat a long time so it is overdue for replacement.
A full radial panel was recently replaced near the head of the furling jib that doesn't exactly match the shade of blue on the rest of the sail and doesn't include the top (5th) white star.
We have no reason to believe anything doesn't work, but we haven't had a need for the lights or electrical system so we've never replaced the batteries to confirm it.

1999 West Wight Potter 19
Improvements we’ve made:
Reinforced outboard bracket with epoxy impregnated board salvaged from an old Chris Craft
Kinda improvements:
Removed bow pulpit which was unseated by previous owner. (Had a line tied off and tried to motor away) We did the job right, excavated a puck of core around the old thru-holes and sealed with West System epoxy. We just never got around to re-seating it. It will obviously be included.
Bimini: Boat includes a nice cockpit bimini, canvas matches royal blue jib and mainsail cover. All deck hardware is installed.
Sails: Furled jib and standard mainsail blue and white striped with brass reef points. (I do currently have the reefing system rigged up)
Roller Furler: Factory CDI roller furler for headsail. Action is smooth and it makes life a lot easier on the water.
Telescoping swim ladder.
Lights: 360’ white light atop the mast for mooring/anchoring overnight. Running lights: port/star forward and white on the transom. Nice, mellow dome-light in the cabin.
Compass
Forward V-berth is very comfortable and can accommodate me (6’0”) as well as my wife and our 80lb lab for a very comfortable night’s sleep. With the companionway hatch and the forward hatch open you get a nice breeze in the cabin.
Old Humminbird depth sounder (I think it was factory installed) transducer is a hullmount blister forward port-side. It works and is accurate, though the display seems to be a bit sun-faded and can be hard to make out sometimes.
Danforth Anchor w/ 10ft heavy chain rode and 200+ft ⅜” dacron line.
Several ⅜” dacron docklines 12-20ft
Plumbed toilet with holding tank and pump-out (We’ve never used it)
Freshwater tank for small sink
VHF radio will not be included ours is programmed w/ our personal MMSI #, but you will obviously get antenna installed at top of mast, cable, and all the mounting hardware for your radio.
Options:
2000 Nissan 5hp 2-Stroke Longshaft (Original factory motor)
Will occasionally not start. Starts on first pull 75% of the time but will sometimes be stubborn.
This will be included in the asking price.
OR
Brand new 2020 Yamaha 6hp 4-Stroke Longshaft <12 hours, recently performed 1st/break in oil change at 10hrs. Purchased this summer at the Hancock Bike Shop. Motor can be substituted for the Nissan 5hp for an additional $1200

I’m sad to be selling West Wight Potter 15 #708. We love this little pocket yacht but after sailing it a few times my family and I have decided we want something a tad bigger.
This is a basic setup without any bells and whistles, but it’s seaworthy and has no structural issues with the hull or topside. Includes sails, basic riggings, boom, and mast, plus brand new Newport Vessels transom-mounted 46lb electric trolling motor, smart battery box, and battery. Mast has a slight bend in it but it’s still strong and holds sails in the wind without issue.
Trailer is primitive — the rear lights rest on top of the back of the boat — but functional and legal.
Will bring to you if within a couple hours of Fresno, CA, or I can meet you closer to where you are if you don't want to drive out here.
Asking $2250 but would take lower to move it out of my driveway sooner.

2002 West Wight Potter 15 (will be either in Apalachicola, FL or Indianapolis, Indiana) w Trailer and Outboard
In very good condition. Includes: Main sail, two jibs, 2017 Suzuki 2.5 four stroke. Cockpit cushions, Bimini, brand new electrical panel and wiring, brand new battery and this particular 15 has access storage panels in the cockpit seats (a very nice addition).
My Potters don't sit. I purchased this one in October 2019 and have sailed and camped over 20 days in the Apalachicola Bay, Florida area.
I am going to purchase a WWP 19 so my girlfriend can join me - thus the reason I am selling.
It sails great, very clean in cabin, cushions are nice (ugly) but I sleep on them very well.
Previous owner attempted to paint the bottom (no idea why) and it looks bad but only cosmetic. He also tried to paint the aluminum mast.
I have just installed the electrical panel, greased trailer wheels, repaired the spare, repaired trailer lights, changed oil and plug on motor and installed a nice marine fan for the cabin.
Pictures upon request.
