I tie the furler along the mast with the jib sheets. It only protrudes less
than a foot and doesn't bend. But I have a 15 and do not know how much longer
it would extend with a 19. You could always undo the top shackle and slide it
further up the mast. By the way when I ordered a Genoa and the CDI furler from
IM this summer I also got the FF1 and not the mini.
