While berthed at the Stockton (California) Sailing club years back, I
used a club jib exclusively as did all the other members there.
Even while racing we used the self-tenders. The channel there is
rather narrow as some of you have seen, and the wind blows
straight down it. Made it easier on the wallet for racing sails, main,
club jib, and spinnaker were all you needed. I found that with the
club jib you could also point a bit higher than without. I use one
now (not on the Potter, yet) because 100% of my sailing is single
handed, and believe me, it sure makes it easier, besides, I could
never get my old cat to tend the jib sheets while tacking.
