Oskari and all:

Nice pics. Great job on the Nancy's China and a major mod of adding
centerboard instead of daggerboard to boot! There has been a thread about
cockpit draining in a P-15. We had a plywood sloop when I was a kid <way
back in 1958> on SF Bay. A 'Treasure Island' <#10 'Nixie' which was later
donated to the Palo Alto Sea Scouts) class built by Nichols boatworks in
Alameda. The boat had a nice large cockpit and minimal accomodations below.
These boats were intended to be raced and did well until fiberglass
construction took over. One of her sisterships from somewhere in the north
bay had a self bailing cockpit added and it made the usable area much
smaller. I guess it all depends on how fast you need it to drain/expected
sailing conditions. A self bailing cockpit will be a major modification
after the fact and may reduce usable cockpit space considerably in the
Nancy's China.
