Hi Tony:
When I was stationed on the island of Diego Garcia in the early 80's, my six
pilot detachment owned a 2.7 Cruise n' Carry, which we used to power an
(unauthorized) inflatable about the lagoon. It was the smallest (and most
easily concealed) outboard made, and could be carried comfortably in one
hand. It was a bear to keep running, and most of the time we had to use a
finger in the carburetor venturi to regulate the air flow, but it allowed us
to get to parts of the atoll that were normally not available. I have no
fond memories of the contraption. It was Aussie purchased, and we had to
fabricate spares from scratch (mostly small parts that fell off due to
vibration). For your sake, I hope there are more reliable now.
Sorry,
Mac Davis
