I bought and installed a mainsail feeder from West Marine...$49. It
works like a jem!

The feeder sits below the luff insert on the mast and allows me to
raise the main with two hands in about 5-10 seconds. The sail comes
down in the same easy way.

However, because of the position of the feeder, the main does not go
to the top of the mast by 3-4 inches. The sail is fully displayed, yet
not as high as it would have gone before I installed the feeder.

Do I lose something by not going to the top of the mast?
