Personally, I would not leave home without a come-along. I have used mine
to pull the boat on the trailer when the winch broke and to pull the trailer
out of the water when the launch room was too slick at the waters edge.
Most come alongs have either a 1,000 or 2,000 lb capacity which is enough to
pull a full size truck out of the mud when it is down to the axles. At $40,
it is cheap insurance.
