I am still trying to get some detail about this event that happened week
ago on GSL.....has anyone interviewed the man who spent 16 hours in the
water after his Potter swamped and then was rescued with only minor
injuries.....there a lot of questions about this event which, if answered,
could help many small boat sailors.....apparently he was not a novice or if
he was he was a mighty smart one to have surved this
experience.....newspaper and TV reports were scanty.....I've wondered, for
instance, what time of day this happened....if it was at a time when the
GSL rangers would have been monitoring VHF and if so so, had he had a VHF
racio in a waterproof plastic bag (such items are on the market) would he
have been able to get a message out while floating in the water in hsi life
jacket.....I know that hand-helds on GSL can be heard at least 12 or 15
miles out there......I know the boat was still floating although completely
swamped when he was picked up....wonder if it has been brought in and how
that was accomplished......plenty of other questions that need to be
answered....anyone else interested????
