Greg: Oddysey Sails are original equipment for current Potters. In
my inventory I have both lapper and jib. Although I plan to add the
genoa next year, my VERY limited experience with Penelope has
convinced me that the lapper is a nice sail that my 8 and 10 year old
kids (what a crew!!) can handle without winches. It backwinds nicely
and clears the rigging well while still giving good performance in
light air. Certainly the full genoa adds more than the smaller sails
in light air...I'm sure there are people out there who can tell you
more... but spend some time with the lapper. And if you think you
engineers make mistakes, wait until you see what we chemists can do
with just a little rope!
