If they are unaware of it it might be that most(at least mine, anyways) DO
NOT have a backing plate installed at the factory, merely oversize fender
washers. I have a 16 gauge stainless backing plate now, but this was part
of an attempt to eliminate excess vibration(from the motor) which was
unsuccessful.

I should have included that there is a smaller metal, aluminum ?, backing
plate inside the transom; the IM sales staff seems unaware of this
feature, in all my contacts with them it has not been mentioned.
