Hey Dudes,

Long time, no see! Since it seems to be the season for confessing
affairs, I might as well do mine. I have been having an affair with
another boat, a slightly used Capri 16, vintage 1991. Not a Potter, I
am somewhat ashamed to say. I won't bore you with the details, but the
curious can find generic pictures, lines and specs at:

http://www.catalina.net/cp16.htm

That 450 lb. wing keel makes it sail beautifully, but trailering is a
bear. After two adventures trailer sailing it, we parked it in the
water at the Chula Vista Marina, a $100/mo. side tie. Well worth it in
the case of this boat and my VW bus which got dragged into the water
both times and blew out the cooling system to boot. Most of my summer
was spent refurbishing both.

Anywho, Popeye, our lateen or sloop rigged P-14, wants a divorce because
of disuse. She's a fine vessel, but now that our kids are teenagers, we
no longer need her beaching and easy trailering and rigging abilities.
As some of you know, you can see pictures of Popeye on the website with
her lateen rig, which acquired some additional upgrades after those
photos.

West Wight Potter 14' 1974

Steve Barnes, (619) 426-5248, oldsurfdude@worldnet.att.net, fooling
around with other boats in San Diego. Feeling good about it, too, but I
miss you Potter dudes. There is no Capri 16 group around to jawjack
with.
