Hey Guys,

Why do you disconnect the side stays? I leave them connected and use bungee
cords to secure them to the mast once it is locked in its stowed position.
Worked great for the guy who had the boat before me and it worked great for
me. The cords keep the sidestays from slapping about.

With the aft stay and the side stays in place, I lock the mast into the
tabernacle with the aft of the two connectors and walk up the mast to
vertical while an accomplice pulls and tugs on the forestay. The damn thing
never goes far enough until I pull the mast forward once it is erected.
Once the forestay is in place, I can slide in the forward connector into the
tabernacle.
