Old Surf Dude, I fear Eric (the RED? >VBG<) is sending you to your wierd (a
Viking Doom <G>)....

You could (relatively) easily navigate into Seattle or vancouver or victoria
or something like that however. >>

Hummmm, Id not say an easy trip from Southern California. The Oregon Coast in
and of it's self was well known as the GraveYard of the Pacific. Something
about the Current, Sea Breezes/Storms and really nasty rocky areas plus sand
dunes that go for miles (literally) inland before you see any assistance.

Then the intrepid Capri sailor (what cheek! What Daring!! Not even a Stout
Hearted Potter for a buddy <G>) has to pass some of the most beautyful but
uninhabited coastal waters known of the Washington State Olympic Pennisula.
Better be a serious camper to get a small boat past this gate. Its a Whole
Day at Highway speeds to get past this area.... How many Small Sailboat days
is this??

Then comes the Straits of Juan De Fucha (sorry for the spelling) With SERIOUS
Tidal Flows that will send you out to the deep blue Pacific in a real hurry.
All this while dodging Trallers, Gill Nets, Massive Oil Tankers that cannot
see your little sailboat (assuming they care..) and so forth.

After all that the hardened Sea Traveller can handle any Huge Freighter
bearing down on him so the commercial traffic is a moot point.

However I do like sailing Hoods Canal and that area....
