You can buy a 12" aluminum .095 pipe from an aluminum supply store (Yellow
pages) the same diameter as boom on your P15 for about 20 bucks with tax.
Then cut it to proper length (8'9" ?) and transfer all the stuff from your
boom to the new one. This way you wont lose sail area or have to remove
slugs...

I did that to my P19 and now have a 9' 6" long boom instead of the 8' one that
came with it... It clears everything beautifully and I can use my oversized
bimini...
