I happen to have this device on my Potter. I have been using it for about
twenty years. It is a plastic tube bent in a L shape with a cork inside. I
have checked it against a larger boat with a electronic speedometer, and it is
quite acurate. These used to sell for about $20.00 but I haven't seen them in
awhile. By the way, my top speed with this device was measured at 6.5 KNOTS on
my HMS 18 Sunshine.
