I can't believe that anyone should have to put up with that problem.
Breaking shear pins when you haven't even hit anything? I don't know if my
32-year-old Seagull even has a shear pin. I think it has a spring on the
shaft that absorbs the shock if the prop hits something. And that's
considered an archaic engine. Yet these "modern" engines are breaking shear
pins right and left!

I hope I don't have that problem on my electric MInnKota. I have put it in
reverse while still moving forward with no problems. But I should probably
get a spare shear pin just in case the prop hits something. Has anyone ever
had a shear pin break on an electric outboard?
