I had my brand new Genoa from Odyssey (the IM factory installer) modified
for the CDI roller furler by a local sailmaker last year. He had some
rather unkind words for the quality of the cloth, stitching and shape; of
course, he was used to making performance oriented racing sails. However,
he did quote me a price for making a similar sail that was considerable less
than the IM price for a similar sail made of stiffer cloth (more efficient
than the Odyssey cloth). He also was disparaging of the kits that Sail Rite
produces. Of course, he could have been a grinch; he declined a chance to
make a contribution to my fundraising sailathon.
