As I am following the e-mail concerning charging batteries and what kind of
batteries, etc, I am wondering about something. For me sailing is getting
away from noise. Getting away from motors. To be with nature. I am confused
when I sail the beautiful San Juan Islands and anchor, boats next to me start
their generators and watch Videos. Meanwhile they totally miss the sea
otters playing right beside them. I am confused when I see the huge RVs set
up with their generators and satellite dishes near the beaches where I have
dropped my anchor. What happened to enjoying nature and the clean fresh air?
What happened to just slowing down? It was really hard for me last summer
when a 240 ft passenger ship came into Echo Bay of Sucia Island and ran their
generators all night. I finally understood why all the boats left earlier in
the day.

I guess owning a Potter 19 is a whole different concept than a Potter 15. I
am wondering if there should be two separate groups on the net. Perhaps you
can direct me to a group where motors and batteries play a minor part in the
adventures of sailing and camping.
