I just checked my Texas atlas, and it looks like a good couple miles
upriver from Tow to the State Park. What concerns me is there is a
place on the river called "tanyard crossing" between Tow and the park.
If this "crossing" is like most rural Texas "crossings", it will be a
concrete bridge that the water flows OVER, with about 4" of water, and
perforated concrete curbs on both sides. I would sure hate to cruise
all that way, and get turned back!
On the other hand, I have seen small powerboats ( about 16' ) pull up to
Colorado Bend State Park, which makes me think there must be some way to
get by, unless they launched above the crossing.
I also noticed another "falls" -- Post Oak Falls that are below the
State Park, but still above the crossing.
I am going to scan the maps covering the area. If anyone is interested,
I can e-mail the file directly to them, or upon request, I will put it
on my website. I promise to keep the file size small. Unfortunately
the lake is on two different pages, I will do my best to put the images
together.
Also note, tomorrow is my last day at this e-mail address, and it will
be a few days before I am back on the lists. If anyone does want to
e-mail me after tomorrow, please use: texason@flash.net
