I carry two anchors. One is a small 8lb. danforth with eight feet of chain
on 150' of 1/4' nylon I use as a lunch hook and stern anchor. The second
is the 11lb. Horizon claw with 20' of chain and 150' of 3/8 nylon three
ply. The small anchor I stow in a bag behind the cabin ladder. I have
another anchor rode bag (from west marine, like the Horizon and rode). I
keep the anchor and rode on the starboard side of the ceterboard trunk. I
don't use the chain locker forward or mount the thing on the deck (I use
the chain locker for delicate stuff I don't want to get wet). I like
keeping the weight low, and on the starboard side it acts as a
counterweight to the motor which is mounted to port. I put my inflatable
tender on top of the rode bag and can still open the cuddy door! I
suspect that setting the anchor on the Potter will often be done from the
rear anyway, so we will carry it up on deck when needed. Otherwise it is
pretty much out of the way, especially since I have a table leaf that
extends over the passage to the right of the centerboard. Last weekend
the 3/8" was used to moor us to a bouy in Ayala Cove on Angel Island.

I have not used the horizon yet, but I'll keep you posted.
