Scott - I haven't had my P-15 out much lately, having been occupied
building a kayak, but I hope to do so soon. Saturday was one of the
first really nice days we've had in awhile, and I think everyone with a
boat was out (I chose to be on a bike that day). The current at the
Wappoo Cut is notoriously wicked what with all the tidal currents
funnelling in and I wouldn't think of putting a sailboat in there. My
most often used launch is the Folly River landing. It gets crowded, but
not too bad if you avoid the mid afternoon times . Earlier or later is
good and no one has been rude to me there (and it's around the corner
from my house). Another favorite is the landing at the City Marina
downtown. Costs $6 to park and launch. Ramp is not the best, but it is
never crowded and you're right there in the harbor. It's located on the
far side of Pussers.

I was sailing in the Folly River a year or so ago when I tacked in
front of another small sailboat I thought might be a potter. It wasn't,
but a voice called out in a very British accent "Is that a West Wight
Potter?" I recognized the voice as that of Paul Mitchell, the son of
Harry Mitchell, the BOC sailor who was lost in the southern ocean in
1994. Paul lives out here at Folly, too.

Hope this helps and I'll look for you out there. Or maybe Paul will
find you!
