Hi Derek:
Try this: Acquire a 1 or 2 gallon plastic gas can. Remove the installed
funnel and drill an appropriately sized hole in the filler cap. Rig a piece
of fuel capable hose from the bottom of the tank, through the hole in the
cap, and into an appriopriate sized hole in the internal tank filler cap.
Attach the tank securely to the top of the transom, and when the motor is
lowered into operating position, gas will siphon from the tank (ex gas can)
into the internal tank, keeping the internal tank full at all times. It's
not elegant, but it works.
