When I decided I wanted some sort of tiller holder, I looked over what was
available and didn't like any of them. Too much money for an essentially
simple job. It offended my frugality genes. Unfortunately I wasn't able to
come up with better using components that wouldn't need half a machine shop.
I gave in and bought a "Tiller Tamer" for my P-15. Opinion? It works,
isn't particularly in the way, but cost too much money for an essentially
simple job.

Since then, I've found more or less what I was thinking of on Jobst
Vandrey's excellent web site. Take a look at
http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Forest/2727/photo.html#tiller
I think I'll do it a bit differently (goes without saying, doesn't it), but
it is a good approach. I wasn't able to find the right size cleats in the
cleat department at West Marine, but did find what appears to be a good
cleat in the Laser components at another shop. It's a Holt-Allen #124,
2-1/2" long, costs under a buck (Honest !!). As soon as I get a chance to
try a feasibility demonstration model and an advanced development model,
I'll post the results.
