Jerry,

I replaced the plastic sheaved blocks associated with the keel lifting
system on our 1988 P19 a few years back. In their place I installed
Harken's 300 series (#308s and 309s) wire blocks. Expensive? Yes, but in
my mind worth every penny.

With the factory blocks I could barely lift the keel with two hands on
the stock (I think) 11 inch winch handle. After installing the Harken's
raising the keel was so easy that I was able to dispense with the
original 11 inch handle; I put a 7 inch one in its place. Even with the
7 incher I can still operate the winch single-handedly with little
difficulty. Prior to this I had considered adding more mechanical
advantage but with the new blocks I no long feel it is necessary.
