Gang,

Actually got to work on the Potter today for a couple of
hours. Removed the old Garhaurer single block above the
keel (the side plate is cut 2/3rds thru) and replaced with
a Garhaurer double block. Only required drilling(2) two
new holes. Started to remove the old single block on the
top starboard side of the keel, but with the nuts off I
can't remove the bolts. Will try a "bigger hammer"
tomorrow. Might have to punt and try something different
if the won't come out.

The old wire is in real bad shape at the keel end and the
block attachment at the starboard aft corner is loose, so
I will have to remove it, probably go to a bigger bolt and
re-install. I will have to shanghai some help, today was
a disaster working by myself. Ever try to remove and
replace 4 bolts on deck with nuts in cabin by yourself.
YUK! Also removed one of the the rusty bolts holding the
crank handle on and will find two new ones to replace
them. The ones I bought 3 years ago are the wrong threads.

Actually turned out to have been the day to go sailing,
but forecast was for rain and 35 mph gusts. When will I
ever learn NOT to look at forecasts. It's been about 15
mph steady all afternoon.
