I have never sailed on Havasu but I have been down to it by canoe. The
water is surprisingly cold. There can be many jet skis. Wind is generally
from the south. We went down stream from Needles to Lake Havasu through
the gorge. A truly awesome trip. Sculptured cliffs, beautiful colors,
beautiful water. There is a set of indian petroglyphs (sp?) just south of
the gorge that are very interesting. There are areas back in the tules
where the jet skis are not allowed and the water is warmer. These areas
are perfect for potters as there tends to be some shallow spots. The
current was around 3-5 knots. The London Bridge area is pretty cool.
The place we camped was a county park south of Needles. It had great boat
in campsites on the river, and an internal channel with O.K. swimming.
We didn't fish. Have a great time!
