My recommendation for the twin hull numbers is, like the others, make sure IM
knows and does something about it. As for changing the numbers yourself, don't
be hasty. It is unlawful to change or remove the HIN on any boat under penalty
of law. Once the matter has been identified to your state registry office, make
certain that you have something in writing from IM to the government office to
back up your claims of an incorrect HIN.

I suggest you find out from IM which one was newer, then renumber it
"769-1/2." (or 769.5). Of course that is based on the presumption that
there are only two #769s.
