I was just talking to a couple of the local Sheriff's officers who run the
patrol boat here at Lake Tahoe about just that subject, bow riding. Here, if
you get a ticket for that, it is $250 per violation. If you have three kids
on the bow, that's $750!

On a more positive note of our local gendarmes: Last week while out on the
lake, perhaps 1/2 mile from shore off Sand Harbor, I was approached by a
Sheriffs boat with lights and sirens going. At the time I was adrift because
I was pulling in my fenders, coiling my dock lines, etc., getting ready for
an afternoon of cruising. The patrol boat pulled up alongside.

Many of you may remember my first mate, Dillon, a Cocker Spaniel. Dill is
now 15 years old, deaf, blind, and afflicted with a few other more minor
problems. Lollipop has never been on the water without Dillon aboard.

Well, back to the Sheriff's boat. They pulled alongside and asked me how
Dillon was doing! They remembered us from last season. They seemed
genuinely excited when Dillon stuck his head out of the passageway.

Dill and I are both sailing to the end.

It is fun to live in an area where everyone is a friend.

See y'all August 13 for the sail of a lifetime!
