Steering/Nissan 4 stroke Question

I, too, steer almost exclusively with the tiller, but I have noticed
lately that the motor steering tightener on my Nissan 5hp 4-stroke is
getting progressively looser which is a pain in the neck. I am hesitant
to tighten it too much as they advise against that in the owner's
manual.

Any other Nissan owners with this problem? Any possible solutions? I
would appreciate you input.
