The P19 has two side stays positioned about 1/2 and 3/4 way up the
mast...they both run back to a chain plate positioned about a foot astern of
the mast pivot. Ample strong for the rig. I've sailed in up to 15 knots
under standard main, and lapper and noticed no noticeable mast bend.

There is a back stay kit available and several owner-made solutions pictured
on some web pages.
