I think I recall reading in an article on inflatable dinghies a rule of
thumb of 7 hp per person in the dinghy req'd to get it on a plane. If we
assume "dinghy persons" weigh 200 lbs. each and the boat and motor
another 200lbs. it would take 28 hp to get 1000 lbs. on a plane. The
"sleeker" shape (I can't believe I said that about a P-19) on a Potter
may reduce the power requirement some.
