Bimini Tops

I don't know if this is off topic here on the WWP
Capsize/Sinking/Exploding list, but I wonder if anybody has thoughts
about mounting a bimini on a 19 and how to store it when its down --
should it fold forward over the cabin or backward to the transom under
the rudder -- or should it be taken apart and stowed below.

I've seen several pictures of biminis on Potters, but no real
discussion. Summer sailing on the Potomac frequently boils down (and I
do mean boils) to motoring down the river in hopes of finding enough
breeze to sail with. On the Potomac the breeze is always just a little
bit further down river....

I have thought about making one that could be disassembled and stored
below -- it doesn't seem like that great a job -- particularly since
making (sewing) new cushions last winter.

I would appreciate it if nobody comments of the dangers of having a
bimini up in heavy weather...........

I have found an interesting site for Biminis at
http://www.rontimco.com/boat/Bim_features.htm. They seem to have a nice
product line, but it seems to me that I have seen them cheaper at West
Marine etc. Or maybe these are nicer with more features -- they
certainly have a broad product line.

BTW I have been thinking about putting a really effective cockpit drain
in my 19' but I can't seem to find a manhole cover big enough to close
it when not in use and I am afraid that my 4 year old grandson might be
swept away down the drain without some kind of grating....

:-)
