I have see an interesting idea for creating a flat and level area for
the entire cockpit, presumably for sleeping, in "The best of Sail
Magazine's Things that Work". Basically a grated teak sole is made to
fit in the cockpit and is just used for walking on (might look good
too). When needed for sleeping it is raised to level with the top of
the seats by placing on preinstalled wood rails along front of seats
(where the back of your knees would be.
I dont know what a Rhodes system looks like but this was definatly an
"out of the way" deal and would actually improve the looks of the boat -
the added maintainence factor however.....
