Ok folks - got a problem. After reading all the posts about British
Seagulls, I started surfing the web to find out anything I could about
them. Then I found a long shaft 1962 5 hp on Ebay, still in the
original crate, never pushed a boat. I ended up getting the thing
because it was close enough that I could drive over and get it myself
rather than pay shipping. I uncrated it in my garage and started
checking things out (would have been smarter to have done that before I
spent money!) I found myself observing an outboard engine that was
seized up and had no mounting bracket. Very expensive paperweight.
So.... made my list of things to do and have done most of them. The
motor runs quite nicely lashed into my extremely understanding and
patient wife's trash can. Impressed the neighborhood (again) with the
amount of noise and smoke pouring out of my driveway (see Stovebolt Page
on rebuilding old Chevrolet pickups).

My problem now - I need a mounting bracket - British Seagull Engine CPL
1334E4 PN 102/314 Engine mounting bracket complete with engine support
lug. I've talked to Sean at brtseagull@aol.com and he is looking for
me. He can get me a new one but agreed with me that they are extremely
proud of the Seagull name. However, in an attempt to leave no stone
unturned, I am turning to the Potter list to see if there is anyone out
there who knows where I can lay my hands on one of these. Any help will
be very much appreciated!
