Chris,

I have the outhaul on my P-15 rigged 4:1. Not because it takes much
strength to operate it, but the 4:1 makes small adjustments easy.

Using a separate loop of line to attach the clew to the boom (which I do
as well) restricts the sail shape changes caused by outhaul adhustments
to depth only. If the clew is attached to the boom only by the outhaul,
it will move forward AND rise at the same time when the outhaul is
loosened necessitating a re-adjustment of the mainsheet with every
change in outhaul setting. It takes a little load off the outhaul
control line as well.
