Dennis, I was thinking very similar thoughts as I sailed yesterday,... It is a
pain when you have to mess with that cleated line for the outhaul! I wanted to
experiment and add just an inch at a time to see/feel the effects,... well that
was NO FUN! About the time I would get the inch added the wind would shift or
change. Let me know how it works.

Harry, OK Tighten the outhaul in higher air--I knew that. Loosen in light
air--I knew that. But what's this about powering threw chop? That's something
I would like to here more about! What is the proper sail trim techniques for
when "the weather started getting rough, and our tiny ship was tossed[?] If not
for the courage of the fearless crew,..." (Sorry Professor, you were saying?)

What about lowering that clew? I saw that out on the Potter Website,
when/why/what does it gain you in doing that? I think someone suggested
running another line through it to bring it closer to the boom. Is it that
Main twist that we are avoiding?

Dennis, great subject!

Quick question on the boom set-up...my boom is 8' and slides out from from
the gooseneck fitting about an inch and a half. The clew was lashed
directly to an eye at the end of the boom. The latest WW Potter factory
user's guide shows a block attached to the eye on the end of the boom and
the line going from the clew, through the block and cleated on the port
side. I'm thinking of replacing the eye with a cheek block....Any thoughts
or ideas?
