I would agree with the others that Lexan is the way to go for your
hatch. It is indeed expensive, however. For example, two years ago I
purchased a piece of a size to fit over the front hatch of our P-19,
3/8 inch thick, gray smoked; the cost was close to $70. It is mighty
durable stuff though. You can walk all over it, literally. I bought
the material through mail order from a plastics supplier in Richmond
VA. If you would like contact info I'll be glad to get it for you.
