Drew--

Regarding Seagulls. We have 2. A 1983 model 55 (3 hp) long shaft and an
older Silver Century Plus long shaft (5 or 6 hp). Both run fine. Both are
noisy. Both are a bit smelly. Both are great character engines, which (of
course) due to my eccentricities is why I bought them. I use the 3 hp as a
dinghy motor and a backup for our diesel on a Pearson Triton. The other
engine is not used and I should sell it but our son sort of wants it so it's
in his garage. Even though a Seagull would look appropriate on a Potter
(whose unusual looks no doubt also appeals to us eccentrics!)--especially on
an older one like yours, if I were you'd I'd buy a much smaller motor.
Perhaps a 2.5 Nissan. (We use a 2.5 Nissan our Potter 15.)

I sure wouldn't tolerate the extra weight and expense of a 4 cycle one.

Mike
