Tennessee Potter Group Sail Saturday May 20 & Sunday May 21
(will be rescheduled Sat. June 3 & Sun. June 4 if rained out)
The site is Edgar Evins State Park on Center Hill Lake (about 18,000 acres
and 60 miles long.) Center Hill Lake is located south of I-40 about 79 miles
east of Nashville. There is no charge for entrance to the park or to launch
boats. If anyone wants to camp, I think the fee is $15.
Directions: On I-40 take exit 268 (exit for Center Hill Dam). Go south on
Highway 96 until it intersects with Highway 141 at a stop sign (about three
miles). (Intersection has a deli/store with a canoe on a rock.) Straight
ahead, across Highway 141 is an Edgar Evins State Park sign. Cross the
intersection, enter the park, and follow signs to launch ramp 2.
If you want a map, contact Owen Shaw: scott.smith@nashville.com .
Launch time is 11:30 a.m. We will go by boat to eat lunch at the restaurant
at Center Hill Marina.
Dinner will be at the lake shore with each person providing his/her own
food, ready-to-eat grilled. (We might coordinate the grilling so each
person doesn't have to bring a grill and charcoal.)
Saturday night we will sleep on board the boats. If you prefer, you can
camp at the park.
Sunday morning each person to his/her own devices for breakfast. We will
then sail and depart as schedules demand.
