Ken and fellow Potterers:

I considered using the flotation bags from APS that Jim Nolan suggested (about $100 for a pair) but after looking at the underside of the cockpit and seats, I was concerned about abrasion and/or outright puncture. An additional problem would be how to keep them in place as they would simply 'float away' if not properly attached. Affixing mounting plates (I didn't want to have mounting screws through the hull/deck for this) seemed to be more of a hassle than using the Dow blue styrofoam (about $30) from the building supply store.

Removing the old stuff is somewhat of a hassle. I used a short handled landscaping trench shovel (sorta like a clam shovel with a square end) and a left over piece of 1/4" polypro sheet that I made the companionway door from as scrapers. You literally have to scrape it off the bottom of the seats.
