Yeah, I hear the newer ones have bilge drains in the lowest part of
the transom -- like many ski type runabouts. If indeed this is true,
and they are similar, they'd have lever operated or (sometimes)
screw-in plugs kind of like a bottle stopper. Bad idea.

Re cockpit drains: the outlets aren't _always_ above the waterline,
esp if you load for a long cruise and/or are in following seas. The
potential failure I worry about would be of the hose that connects the
drains (actually thru-hulls) in the cockpit sole with the thru-hull
outlets in the transom. I added two more drains for a total of three.
